This trail on the south side of the Strawberry Mountain Wilderness provides good access to Skyline Trail #385. Camping opportunities exist along the trail. Water is plentiful on the lower 2/3 of the trail, but it is recommended that drinking water be carried in. The trail was burned over during a fire in 1991 and has been heavily logged on the lower part of the trail outside of Wilderness.
From Prairie City, OR., turn onto South Main Street. Follow South Main Street to the junction with Bridge Street. Turn left onto Bridge Street and follow past the local cemetary. The road then becomes County Road 62, follow County Road 62 approximately 20 miles to junction with Forest Road 16. Turn west on Forest Road 16 and travel approximatley 6 miles to the junction with Forest Road 924. Follow Forest Road 924 for approximately 2.5 miles to the junction with Forest Road 1648, follow Forest Road 1648 approximately 0.5 miles to the junction with Forest Road 021. Follow Forest Road 021 for approximately 2.5 miles to the trailhead.
